Main Street project started Monday

NV Energy has started a project downtown that will move underground electrical conduits along Main Street.

The power company will be moving the conduits along Main Street from Bonneville Avenue to Ogden Avenue ahead of an improvement project by the city of Las Vegas.

The conduit relocation project is scheduled to be finished by July. It will start at Bonneville Avenue and progress north to Clark Avenue, on to Bridger Avenue and end at Ogden Avenue.

The city will be putting in new storm drains, sanitary sewer and streetscape improvements. That project will start late June and is expected to be finished by fall of next year.

NV Energy crews will have to lower the electrical conduits to make room for the new storm and sewer lines.

While the project will restrict lanes along Main Street, one lane will be open in both directions throughout the project.
