Couple Shows the Positive Power of Therapy Dogs

A couple walking across the country to raise awareness for therapy dogs stopped in Las Vegas Friday.

Kait and John Seyal started their journey with their dogs in Delaware in March. They've stopped at hospitals, nursing homes and veterans' facilities all along the way with the message of how dogs can help people through difficult times.

"Petting a dog can release endorphins and speed healing and lower blood pressure. So, we bring dogs in to people with difficult circumstances. A lot of the time they are in need of some comfort, some positivity and that is what the dogs provide," Seyal said.

The stop the couple made in Las Vegas was at the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center. They explained to the young people at the center how they adopt dogs and train them as therapy dogs.

The Seyals plan to end their walk in Long Beach.
