Report: Teacher in lewdness case smoked pot with student
News

LAS VEGAS -- A Cashman Middle School teacher facing lewdness and kidnapping charges turned himself into school district police shortly after the alleged incidents took place.

Mikhial Lerma, 28, has been with the Clark County School District since 2010.

According to his arrest report, he called district police on April 2 at 4 a.m. to tell them he had been drinking vodka and smoking marijuana with a female student in his portable classroom a few hours earlier.

The female student said the teacher had been asking her to "hang out" with him for about two months. He texted her around 11 p.m. on April 1 asking to meet her. He picked her up at her home and drove her to the school, the report said.

The student alleged Lerma kissed her, bit her on the neck and grabbed her breast. As the girl left the portable classroom, she said, she saw a school district police officer parked outside. She returned to the portable to tell Lerma who suggested the girl run and he would "give up."

The student did leave the portable and go to a nearby gas station where she asked an unknown person to give her a ride home. She believes it was at that time, Lerma called school district police.

When police asked Lerma if he kissed or touched the girl, he requested an attorney and questioning in the case stopped.

Lerma is facing three counts of lewdness with a minor under 14, one count of luring a minor and one count of kidnapping.
