LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas woman is facing three counts of arson after allegedly starting two brush fires and attempting to start others in a neighborhood near U.S. 95.

Jacqueline Meza, 37, was arrested Sunday night after firefighters responded to a grass fire near Mesquite Avenue and N. Rancho Drive and the fire of a palm tree a short distance away on Collins Avenue that was threatening a home.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the flames under control.

According to fire officials, Meza was observed walking in the area and allegedly attempting to start other fires. She was taken into custody by Metro Police.

The home on Collins Avenue had some roof damage and a utility pole was completely destroyed.
