Metro IDs officers involved in chopper crash

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police released the names of the officers involved in the chopper crash on Dec. 31.

Police said Officers David Callen and Paul Lourenco were flying in Metro's Air Unit when it made a crash landing in a residential neighborhood Wednesday. The helicopter, a McDonnell Douglas 530-FF, landed in the street at Bonanza Road and 23rd Street.

Both officers had to were treated for their injuries at the UMC Trauma Center and released the same evening. Callen has been an employee of Metro Police since March 2000 and Lourenco has been an employee since July 1997.

The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.
