LAS VEGAS -- A man who was drunk and left the scene after he hit and killed a construction worker in July was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday morning.

After he was arrested, Rafael Mendez-Sota told police he had drank as many as nine beers in the hours prior to the crash near Valley View Boulevard and Sahara Avenue.

The construction worker, Robert Lee Lujan, was cutting asphalt in a bus lane when he was struck by Mendez-Sota.
