Man in Custody After Leading Police in Pursuit

LAS VEGAS -- A man faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest after he led police on a chase Sunday evening.

The chase caused police to shut down all of the southbound lanes of traffic on I-15 and Sahara Avenue.

Metro said it all began Sunday afternoon when dispatch began receiving calls of a man pointing a rifle at people, followed by a call of a robbery at a KFC restaurant near Lake Mead and Jones boulevards.

According to police, the suspect involved in both the calls fled the scene before officers could arrive.

Metro's Air Unit followed the suspect and cornered him at a cul-de-sac. The suspect got out of his vehicle holding a rifle. Police said they blocked the streets, but the suspect got back into the vehicle, drove through a lawn and got away.

With four deflated tires, the suspect entered the highway at Rancho Drive and U.S. 95. The suspect crashed at I-15 and Sahara, where police surrounded him. The suspect was taken to the hospital.

The suspect has been identified as Enrique Flores, 32 of Las Vegas.

Police said, in searching Flores' vehicle, they found a semi-automatic rifle. Metro said the suspect did hit cars during the pursuit. No one was injured.
