Driving You Crazy: Lingering Cones at Decatur and Vegas
News

LAS VEGAS - A viewer says she is disgusted with construction-related lane closures near Decatur Boulevard and Vegas Drive.

She says traffic is reduced to one lane after 3 p.m. when construction crews have already stopped work for the day.

The closure on Decatur is part of a storm drain project. This project constructs a storm drain system along Vegas Drive from Michael Way to Rancho Drive. The project affects Decatur as it crosses Vegas Drive.

As for cones lingering late in the day, crews are allowed to reduce the road to one lane until 3 p.m. They work until that time. After that, they have to plate the trench and open the road to three lanes.

Traffic8 contacted the project foreman and the barricade company about the alleged closures after 3 p.m. The foreman said the barricade set-up is quite long, so sometimes, the final few devices may not be off the road until 3:15 p.m.

The foreman assures the city and motorists they are working as quickly as possible. The city will monitor crews to ensure they continue to comply and get their work done on time and the road re-opened by 3 p.m.
