Witnesses Describe Chaos After Crash

LAS VEGAS -- The Egg & I Restaurant was boarded up Monday night, just a hint of the destruction left behind after a car plowed into the patio section during the lunch hour.

It was a frightening experience for customers at the restaurant at Sahara Avenue near Arville Street.

Restaurant General Manager Sarah Gehringer said she heard the horrific screams coming from her customers.

"Just chaos is the best way to explain it," Gehringer said. "I just recall this car coming towards the window, I could see through our patio area, which unfortunately was full at the time, a car just plowing through there."

Four people were trapped underneath the car while others were bloodied and badly hurt. While employees and customers tried to help each other, Metro Police said the driver and his passenger tried to run.

"I made my way around to see who I could help and how I could help while on the phone with 911 at the same time," Gehringer said. "He jumped out of the car and customers dragged him down to the ground and held him down until the police were able to get here."

Metro Police arrested and escorted the driver, 18-year-old Gage Lindsey, into the back of a cruiser. He faces felony hit and run charges along with reckless driving. Investigators believe drugs could have been a factor in the crash. Investigators said the suspect was likely speeding down Sahara Avenue right before the crash.

Lindsey was booked into Clark County Detention Center.

All ten of the people injured were taken to area hospitals with injuries ranging from serious to critical conditions.

Two victims have brain bleeds and another person has severe internal injuries.
