City Approves Plans for New Parking Meters Downtown | News
The city of Las Vegas is moving ahead with a plan it hopes will improve parking downtown.
The city council approved a plan Wednesday to take out old parking meters and replace them with easier to use models. The new meters are solar powered and take credit and debit cards, as well as cash. The meters also allow drivers to find empty parking spots using their smartphones.
Installation of the new meters will start this summer.
The plan also calls for the removal of about 125 metered spaces, which will mean more free parking.
The new plan is the second phase of an overall effort to improve parking downtown.
