Cell Phone Tower Fire Shuts Down Exit Ramp, Causes Power Outage | News
A fire at a cell phone tower forced the closure of an exit ramp on U.S. 95 Monday morning and cut power for some NV energy customers.
The fire started at around 11 a.m. at a tower near Jones Boulevard and U.S. 95. Las Vegas Fire & Rescue crews put out the blaze, but it still caused several problems.
Because of the fire, the tower leaned into NV Energy lines, forcing power company crews to cut the power in the area until the problem was fixed. The outage impacted only about 11 homes.
Nevada Highway Patrol had to shutdown the southbound exit ramp. A crane was used to stabilize the tower.
There is no word on what started the fire.
