LAS VEGAS -- An elite group of students at Rancho High School are ready to take flight as the "Ramsjets."
That's what they call their version of the "Magnificent Seven," students ready to spread their wings and capture some national prestige by taking part in the Real World Design National Challenge this April in Washington, D.C.
The idea behind the challenge is to strengthen students in science, technology, engineering, and math.
The Ramsjets designed an eco friendly electric plane that can travel at speeds of 100 miles an hour with a battery that recharges as it flies.
"Everyone just came together, researched different areas, such as materials, the wings, etc." said Rancho Senior Josh Ewing.
This will be Nevada's first entry into the four year old competition. The winning team receives scholarships and a trip to the White House to meet the President.
