Mortgage Assistance Workshop Slated for Saturday

Nevada homeowners struggling with their mortgages can receive help at workshop Saturday.

The office of Nevada Senator Harry Reid and Nevada Affordable Housing Assistance Corporation will host a mortgage assistance workshop in Las Vegas at Financial Guidance Center (formerly Consumer Credit Counseling Services) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Homeowners with a second mortgage and those currently unemployed or underemployed could be eligible for assistance from Nevada’s Hardest Hit Fund, which is $196 million in federal funding brought to the state to help struggling homeowners.

HUD-approved housing counselors will be available to discuss options to avoid foreclosure. Attendees must bring the following financial documents to apply for programs through the Hardest Hit Fund:

Proof of income:

  • Most recent tax return
  • Latest paystub or unemployment benefits or Social Security award letter (proof of SS)
  • Profit & Loss Statement if self employed

Proof of assets:

  • Most recent bank statement(s) (no copies)

Mortgage info:

  • Most recent mortgage statement(s) for all home loans
