Run Away with Cirque du Soleil at the Springs Preserve March 19th!

Ever dreamed of running away with the circus? Well, on March 19th, you have the chance to run with the Cirque du Soliel in the 10th annual Run Away with Cirque du Soleil at the Springs Preserve. Participants have the choice of participating in a 5k run or a 1 mile fun walk, and will be joined in their efforts by a cast of colorful characters from the Cirque. there will also be activities for kids, massage therapy, live entertainment, and a raffle for a chance to see Cirque in Orlando. this year, the run will be supporting One Drop, a charity designed to provide people access to safe water and raise awareness of the difficulties in achieving this goal.

City Of Las Vegas Grants Available for Neighborhood Improvement Projects

The city of Las Vegas is offering grants of up to $5,000 through the Neighborhood Partners Fund. The money is available for projects that are done by nonprofit neighborhood associations registered with the city’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department, and require the nonprofit match funds with volunteer labor. Applications for the grants will be available at workshops offered throughout the city, or can be found online at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Apply/20718.htm.

Residents interested in the grants are encouraged to call 229-6681 to register the workshops, which will be held at the following time and location:

Saturday, April 2 – 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Mirabelli Community Center, 6200 Hargrove Ave., 229-6359

Black Festival Organizers in Vegas Upset Over Move

LAS VEGAS  -- Organizers of a Black History Month festival billed as Nevada's largest are upset they won't be able to hold it at the downtown Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas for a 10th straight year.
