Health, Fitness Fair To Be Put on By Kids at Stupak Center

Health and fitness are on the agenda for a Saturday fair at Stupak Community Center.

The center’s Youth Council invites people to a Fun & Fitness Fair at the center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families can enjoy games, healthy snacks, health screenings (blood sugar, heart rate, blood pressure,) information and activities, as well as register for the center’s workshops, activities and classes. Admission and all activities are free.

The Stupak Community Center is located at 251 W. Boston Ave. For more information, call 229-2488.

The event is the Trek for Treads project funded by a Youth Neighborhood Association Partnership Program (YNAPP) grant and developed and coordinated by youth that participate in the Stupak Community Center Youth Council. The children saw a need for health education in their community and decided to coordinate a health fair to educate families about healthy eating habits and the benefits of physical fitness. They also invited other youth to register with their walking club and the "Let's Move" program sponsored by First Lady Michelle Obama.
