Western High School is the Fourth to be Restructured

Earlier today we posted about three of the Clark County Schools to be restructured. It has emerged that the fourth school to undergo the process will be Western High School. All staff will need to re-apply for their jobs. The fifth school that will face restructuring will be revealed tomorrow.

Middle School and High School Students Sought for Rubik’s Cube Competition

Middle School and High School Students Sought for Rubik’s Cube Competition

The Las Vegas Science Festival is looking for teams of middle and high school students to compete in the Rubik's Cube Competition! The Competition is open to all Clark and Nye County Schools, be them public, private, religious, or home, with teams divided into two divisions, Division 1 for grades 6-8 and Division 2 for grades 9-12. the competition will have teams competing to solve 25 Rubik's Cubes. Registration is free, and the winning teams will get a cash prize!

Las Vegas Students Take on Rebel Reading Challenge

The UNLV Rebels partnered with SuperPawn and Spread the Word Nevada, a local nonprofit, children's literacy program, for the Rebel Reading Challenge. Eight schools adopted by Spread the Word Nevada for literacy services participated in the challenge. 

More than 573,600 pages were read by participating elementary schools in the Las Vegas Valley. Winning classes from Wynn and C.P. Squires Elementary attended the last Rebel Basketball game. For many of these students, this was their first basketball game. “This was the best thing I’ve ever done,” reported a student from C.P. Squires Elementary School. Schools adopted by Spread the Word Nevada consist of students with economic barriers.

College of Southern Nevada Hosts Spring Career Fair  To Connect Job Seekers and Employers

The College of Southern Nevada will be hosting the Spring 2011 Career Fair tomorrow, March 8th from 10am to 1pm. Job seekers should come in business attire and bring plenty of printed resumes to hand out to the dozens of potential employers on hand. Companies looking for fresh talent include the Clark County Fire Department, Abercrombie & Fitch, MGM Resorts International, and Nathan Adelson Hospice to name a few.

The event will take place on the CSN Cheyenne Campus in the Student Lounge, 3200 E. Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas NV

Program Uses Music to Teach Schoolchildren America's History

The children of the Clark County School District learn about the evolution of Blues music and how America's history has affected it in an amazing interdisciplinary program at the House of Blues

The kids walk --and run, and skip -- into the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, a place they've probably never been, on a field trip probably unlike any they've ever taken.
