Police Search for Man Who Tried to Rob Local Business

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are searching for a man they say tried to rob a business near Jones Boulevard and Lake Mead Boulevard.

The incident happened on June 18. Police say at around 9:30 p.m. the suspect walked into a business in the 2000 Block of North Jones. He told the person at the counter "you're being robbed". The employee acted like he did not understand and asked the suspect for his identification. The suspect stated he didn't have identification and again asked the person behind the counter to empty the cash drawer. The employee refused, the suspect left the business and headed north on Jones.

The suspect is described as a white male, 40 years old, 5 foot 10 inches, 190 pounds. At the time of the attempted robbery he was wearing a jersey with "The Sopranos" logo on the front and "Tony" on the back.

Metro Police need assistance solving a murder near Clark High School.

At approximately 8:06 a.m. Sunday, Metro patrol officers responded to an apartment complex located in the 4200 block of Sirius Avenue to investigate reports of a deceased person.  Arriving officers found a deceased white male adult inside of the residence.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has ruled this death a homicide, and identified the deceased victim as Shahen Der-Avakian, 60, of Las Vegas. Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in this case.  Many times, a seemingly insignificant fact or observation is the key piece of information which aids police in solving a crime.

Police Search for Robbery Suspect

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are looking for a man who robbed a convenience store then shot several rounds from his gun into the store.

It happened May 29 at a store near Stewart Avenue and Eastern Boulevard. Police say the suspect walked into the store just after midnight. He pointed a gun at the people playing in the slot area ordering them to leave. When everyone left he pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk emptied the cash register and gave it to the suspect. The suspect then left the store but before jumping in his car he fired five shots at the store's front window.

Police Search for Man who Beat and Robbed Two Women

The search is on for a man who beat two women with a tire iron then robbed them.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police the crime happened May 25 at around 1:30 in the morning. Police said the suspects were getting a ride home from a local business with the suspect and his friends. When the group got to the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Vegas Drive the two women asked to be let out. According to the police report that's when the suspect became angry at the victims, he stopped the car, starting hitting one of the women with his fists, then got a tire iron from the trunk and started attacking the other victim. He then beat the first victim with a tire iron as well. He eventually took the women's purses and left in his car. 

Man Arrested in Double Murder

LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas homicide detectives have arrested a suspect in a double murder that happened on Monday evening.

Police say Marco Guzman was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of murder, robbery, burglary and grand larceny. A second suspect, Charles Deverna, is still on the loose.

Police say officers were called to the Sunflower Apartments Monday and found a man and woman shot dead inside one of the units. One of the victims has been identified as 27-year-old Anthony Dickerson. The female victim has not been identified.

Witnesses reportedly heard the shots and saw two men running from the scene and driving away in the victim's truck. Police say the shooting was from a dispute over money.

Metro Police are looking for a man suspected of a pair of convenience store robberies last month.

The first occurred near Rancho and Craig and the second took place near Nellis and Charleston. In both cases, The suspect confronted employees and demanded money from the cash registers. In at least one of the robberies, the suspect was armed with a firearm.

The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money during each crime. He is described as a black man, approximately 25 to 35 years old, approximately 5-foot-8, 160 pounds.

Teen Girl Killed in Shooting Late Sunday Night

LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting at a bus stop that left a 16-year-old teenager dead and another injured.

The Clark County Coroner's officer identified the shooting victim as 16-year-old Randii Morrow.

Police say the shooting happened at around 10:15 p.m. Sunday. Morrow was at the bus stop near Eastern Avenue and Bonanza Road with her boyfriend when two men approached them and starting firing a gun. The suspects fled on foot and the boyfriend immediately began looking for help.

"As he brings her over here, I step out of the vehicle and I was like, 'Calm down,' because he was screaming. And I was like, 'Calm down. Calm down.' So he was like, 'Please, call the police,'" said nearby resident Daniel Delgado.

"Everyone was on their heels, hearing gunshots -- five, six of them in a row. Scary," added nearby resident Greg Davidian.
