Stolen Car Rips Through Cars, House

Stolen Car Rips Through Cars, House

Metro Police are searching for a driver who ran away after crashing a stolen car into parked vehicles, a power transformer and a home before dawn.

The crash happened about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Marion, near Charleston and Lamb boulevards in a neighborhood east of downtown.

Police say an officer responding to a report of a carjacking witnessed the crash, but the driver eluded searchers. A woman living in the house was stunned by the car.

“I was dead asleep, and I thought it was the end of the world,” Elizabeth Henderson told 8NewsNOW.

Henderson was sleeping in her children's room when a car came barreling through her yard. A piece of the car broke off when the car collided with an electrical box in the yard. It shot through the window where she and her kids were sleeping. The power box, Henderson says, changed the path of the out of control car and kept it from running directly into the children's room.
