New Playground Built in One Day | Community Spirit
There is a new playground up and ready for children to enjoy, after just one day of work.
More than 250 volunteers from DirecTV, the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada and nonprofit playground provider KaBOOM worked to build the playground Monday at the Down Syndrome Organization headquarters near Vegas Drive and Michael Way.
The new area will provide a safe place for children with Down Syndrome and their siblings to play. It will also be important in the center's therapeutic efforts.
"The purpose of this all is for our children with Down Syndrome and their families to have fun, and we are also going to implement the playground into our developmental and physical therapy programs," a director at the Down Syndrome Organization Deann Cline said.
The new playground is based on drawings submitted by children during a design day in February.
