Southern Nevada children battling cancer got a gold medal surprise Tuesday, when four-time Olympic medalist Kaitlyn Sandeno visited them. She did not arrive empty handed.

Patients at Children's Hospital of Nevada were given these brightly colored JoyJars filled with toys.

Sandeno is the spokesperson for the Jessie Rees Foundation, which was founded by Sandeno's friend while she was battling inoperable brain cancer. Rees passed away last month.

"My friend Jessie started JoyJars simply to spread joy to kids who where going through what she was going through," Sandeno said.

So far, the group has given out more than 50,000 Joy Jars, serving more than 200 children's hospitals and every Ronald McDonald House in the country.
