Instead of wrestling with that new car seat for your baby, come out to a free event Friday where help will be available.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Children’s Hospital of Nevada at UMC will be holding a free child car seat safety event. During the event, parents can bring their cars in for a free installation of their child’s car seat. Limited quantities of car seats will also be available for parents who are not able to afford the appropriate seat for their child.

Kohl’s Cares will announce this year’s grant of nearly $140,000 to make the support possible. Park Place Infiniti Fills Convertible with Donations for Families from HELP of Southern Nevada

Park Place Infiniti Fills Convertible with Donations for Families from HELP of Southern Nevada

Employees of Park Place Infiniti recently adopted two families from HELP of Southern Nevada and collected enough donations for the families to fill a G convertible being displayed in the dealership’s showroom.

The holiday donation drive was part of the Circle of Excellence program that Park Place brought to the local Infiniti dealership. Circle of Excellence is an employee-led program dedicated to raising money for worthwhile local charities. The employee group has plans for community outreach projects every month, with its first being the holiday donation drive for HELP.

“Park Place Dealerships has a long and proud history of being active community partners,” said Park Place Infiniti General Manager Stephen James. “Circle of Excellence allows our employees to select the charities that they want to support and coordinate the projects so everyone can be involved.”

Troopers Bring Holiday Cheer to Sick Children

Troopers Bring Holiday Cheer to Sick Children

The men and women who keep us safe on the highways of southern Nevada brought the holiday spirit to children and the homeless Wednesday.

The Nevada Highway Patrol delivered toys to children at University Medical Center, Sunrise Children's Hospital and St. Rose Dominican Siena Campus.

Troopers gave $10 from their paychecks for the past year. All the money was used to buy the gifts for the kids.

"It is the greatest gift that anyone can ask for. When you see a child's eyes light up, for that one moment, it takes away the pain and really helps them get through the holiday seasons," Trooper Jeremie Elliott said.

The troopers also donated blankets to homeless people camping near I-15 and D Street.
