Clark High Wins Big in Facebook Contest

Clark High School garnered the most votes in a Facebook contest and the $12,000 prize that came with it.

For the past eight weeks, people voted for their favorite Nevada public school on Nevada State Bank’s Facebook page. During the Nevada State Bank $30K Giveaway: You Vote, Schools Win campaign, nearly 43,000 votes were cast, as Clark gained an early lead and held onto it.

Bank officials visited Clark on Tuesday to share the good news and to present a 6-foot check for $12,000 with students and faculty. Nevada State Bank executives joined KLUC 98.5 FM’s disc jockey Chet Buchanan to surprise students.

“Clark High School certainly knows how to rally and maintain support. For the second year, the school was able to get people from throughout the state to vote for Clark High School,” said Dallas Haun, president and CEO of Nevada State Bank.

Second- and third-place prizes of $8,000 and $5,000, respectively, will be handed out Wednesday and Thursday. A $5,000 elementary school prize will be awarded as well. Events are scheduled at Canarelli Middle School, East Career & Technical Academy and Wolff Elementary School.
