Symphony Park Lecture: Backstage with The Smith Center Design Team, March 9
All arts aficionados interested finding out more about the Smith Center should try and attend the next Symphony Park lecture! The focus is Backstage with The Smith Center Design Team, and audience members will be able to listen to a panel discussion with three of the design world’s most influential leaders, including David M. Schwartz, the renowned Washington, D.C.-based architect responsible for The Smith Center’s classic art-deco style. Myron Martin, the CEO of The Smith Center, will be leading the panel discussion. The lecture is open to all interested members of the public.

The lecture takes place at the Fifth Street School Auditorium, 401 South Fourth Street, Las Vegas, NV, 98101. Door will open at 5 pm for a wine bar hosted by Faciliteq and Architectural & Decorative Arts Society. The presentation begins at 6 p.m.

Sam Davis' s "False Horizon" Show Opening at the Trifecta Gallery

On March 3rd, Sam Davis's new show, "False Horizon", will be opening at the Trifecta Gallery inside the Arts Factory. "False Horizons" focuses on Davis's reoccurring themes of Airships, Blimps, and Jumbo Jets, exploring the idea of disappearing into the cloudy sky through media such as tin types, pinhole cameras, and cast iron.

Anti-graffiti Artwork of Local Fifth Graders Unveiled on RTC Transit Vehicle

LAS VEGAS – The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) honored Krista Kachnik of John Dooley Elementary School as the grand prize winner of this year’s anti-graffiti art contest. Her winning artwork was unveiled on a 40-foot RTC vehicle before an audience of friends and family.

The RTC vehicle also showcased the artwork of first runner-up Fermin Perez of Ruby Thomas Elementary School. The students’ designs were selected as the top two finalists in the fourth annual art contest designed to educate local students that the difference between art and graffiti is permission.  

The RTC again partnered with the Southern Nevada Graffiti Coalition, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Vector Media Las Vegas to sponsor the art contest.

RTC to Unveil Winning Anti-Graffiti Artwork Thursday!

A group of local fifth grade students have won the fourth annual anti-graffiti art contest! Their winning piece will be decorating a RTC transit vehicle, and is set to be unveiled tomorrow. The contest was sponsored by The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, the Southern Nevada Graffiti Coalition, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department D.A.R.E. and graffiti investigation units, and Vector Media Las Vegas.

The winning artwork will be unveiled on a RTC transit vehicle at a special event this Thursday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the RTC Administrative Office Building, 600 S. Grand Central Pkwy., Room 108.
