SNOWY WEATHER: Snow falls around the Las Vegas Valley!

Snow started falling around the Las Vegas valley Wednesday night around 6 p.m. According to numerous viewer tweets and photos 8 News NOW received, many areas around the valley were seeing 1-3 inches of snow.

At 9.p.m. Summerlin had 4-5 inches of snow. And at 10 p.m. Echo Canyon Subdivision on Mount Charleston was showing 11-inches.

Nevada Highway Patrol warned drivers on Twitter that roads could be a little tricky. Especially, for drivers traveling on I-15 southbound near Jean. The roadways in that area are expected to freeze with ice causing the roads be very slippery.

The 215 Beltway proved to be a challenge for many drivers as the snow turned to slush on the roads. According to NHP, during the last snow storm, 32 wrecks were reported to the agency in a 5-hour span.

Below is video of what drivers were dealing with when the snow first started falling Wednesday.

SR160 was closed in both directions for hours due to heavy snowfall. There were also multiple vehicles off the roadway. NDOT plowed the are to reopen the road by 9:30 p.m.

8 News NOW took to social media to see what some of the valley residents were seeing in their neck of the woods, and it looks like #SnowVegas is blanketing trees, bushes, streets and cars the most in Summerlin, along with the southwest and northwest valley. Check out the tweets below!

Due to the weather, flights at McCarran International Airport were delayed up to an hour and a half.

NV Energy reported numerous power outages around the valley. More than 1,475 were without power in the Mission Hills and Boulder Highway area. And more than 1,180 customers around the Paradise area near Pecos and E.Flamingo also dealt with outages.

Officials at Nellis Air Force Base say the base will be closed Thursday, so only mission essential personnel should report for work as scheduled.

Note: Sunrise Mountain accumulated snow for the first time since 2008.
