A DNA test led police to arrest Joseph Warren for the sexual assault of a woman on March 1 in Freedom Park, according to his arrest report.
Warren, a register sex offender, had a DNA profile in the system from his prior offense in 2006.
The report said, in the March 1 case, the woman was walking near the park around 3:30 a.m. when Warren approached her and wanted to know why she was out walking so late.
The woman told him she was on her way to her boyfriend's home.
As they neared the gates to the park, Warren grabbed the woman and pulled her into the park where he sexually assaulted her, the report said.
DNA evidence collected from the victim matched Warren's DNA profile, the report said.
Warren is facing charges of sexual assault, kidnapping, battery and open and gross lewdness.
