Smith Center the Latest Piece in Downtown's Renaissance

LAS VEGAS - The Lady Silvia is a new downtown lounge, a hidden gem at Soho Lofts. Lady Silvia co-owner Grant Garcia has been active in downtown revitalization for ten years.

"Business has been great. We've been open for about six months. People are slowly starting to find out about our bar. Our weekends have been our busiest times. We just started a brand new jazz happy hour," he said. "We're finally starting to see the fruits of our labor."

The downtown energy is becoming more powerful with the Smith Center for the Performing Arts opening March 10. The art deco-inspired building is downtown's latest addition and could usher in a big business boom.

"I think the Smith Center represents an opportunity to have a real epicenter where we can just bring energy and commerce into the center of town for some hopefully positive changes," said Desert Companion Magazine Editor Andrew Kiraly.
